these are the Shari Elf Galleries of March and April of 2008

April 11, 2008 last week's gallery

Here is a lovely article about the World Famous Crochet Museum written by Maggie Downs for the Desert Sun newspaper in Palm Springs.

Thanks you Steve Winawer, for visiting

yesterday and taking home "Sometimes I need a new perspective" and thank you Spicey, Corinne and Laurie for visiting last week. Corinne took home a little flower piece

Thanks for visiting my good and sturdy art gallery! My art is 95% trash, made from stuff I find on the ground, at yard sales and thrift stores, broken stuff and stuff friends send me.

Would you like to know when I post new works on this page?   Yes I would.   Prices below include shipping.

Would you like to receive notices about events at Randy Polumbo and Shari Elf's Art Queen gallery in Joshua Tree, California?    Yes I would

You can now buy my art with Goggle Checkout, just let me know and I can send you an invoice.

I am pleased to announce the all new Shari Elf Guest Gallery, I hope you'll have a look!

They're gonna put us in the movies! Clea Wood and friends at Massif Pictures have made a movie about a lot of us artists in the Joshua Tree/ Wonder Valley area. Here is the fun trailer: The Road to Wonder Valley.

I'd like to see the U.S. and other countries copy Ireland and put a 33 cent tax on plastic shopping bags. Here's an article in the NY times about this. I carry about 7 Trader Joe's and other cloth bags in my car, it's not such a big deal to bring my own bag into a store or to the farmer's market, it just took some retraining and for me it took getting tired of seeing plastic shopping bags blowing down the streets, in trees, on the beach....

I continue to listen to William McDonough talks, such The Monticello Dialogues from New Dimensions, I have hope for the future of our earth and all of us, when I listen to his talks. For Earth Day here is my idea for us all: to watch one of his lectures or listen to free podcast talks from Itunes, then start taking action. This amazing video posted on the Green Filter about William McDonough and his business partner, chemist Michael Braungart shows the work they are doing building 6 beyond sustainable cities in China, rebuilding the Ford Motor Company plant... oh please, I hope you will watch it. thank you!

"We need a new design assignment and we need a new design. In order to do this we need to ask new questions. In my offices there are two questions guiding our work. The first is: "How do we love all the children, of all species, for all time?" Please notice that I am not just saying our children; I am saying all of the children. And notice I am not just saying our species, I am saying all species. And notice I am not just saying now, I am saying for all time. When we integrate this question into our designs, wonderful and beautiful things begin to happen, and we'll show you some of those things soon." William McDonough
